Preparedness

The Purchase District Health Department aims to educate, inform, and empower our community to prepare for emergencies and disasters. By promoting personal preparedness, community resilience, and collective action, we help our residents protect their health, safety, and well-being before, during, and after an emergency. Through partnerships, resources, and preparedness education, we are working together to build a stronger, safer, and more resilient community.

Stay Informed

Follow your local health department and county emergency management on social media to receive timely updates, safety information, emergency alerts, and preparedness tips that can help you protect yourself, your family, and your community.

Build Your Emergency Kit

Emergencies don’t check your calendar first, so a little preparation today can make a big difference when the unexpected shows up tomorrow.

Consider having a “Stay Kit” that is designed to keep you safely at home for 3 or more days, and a “Go Kit” for rapid evacuation during sudden events.

Children and Teens

Emergency preparedness is important for everyone, including children and teens. Explore the resources below to help young people learn about disasters, build preparedness skills, and take an active role in keeping themselves, their families, and their communities safe.

Special Considerations

Older adults, people with disabilities, and those with access & functional needs may face unique challenges during disasters. Having a plan in place can help reduce stress and improve safety when every minute counts.

Medical Reserve Corps

The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a network of trained volunteers who support public health, emergency preparedness, and community response efforts before, during, and after emergencies. Whether you have a medical background or simply want to help your community, the MRC offers opportunities to make a difference through service, training, and preparedness activities.
