STD/HIV Testing

STDs are diseases that are passed during vaginal, anal, or oral sex and sometimes through genital touching. STD’s can lead to serious health problems. STDs are common. Anyone who is sexually active can get an STD, however people age 25 and under are at higher risk of infection.

People often have no signs or symptoms with STDs, but this does not mean they can’t still cause harm to the body or spread to others. Many STDs can be cured while others cannot, but all STDs can be treated.

Protect Yourself

It’s important to protect yourself and partners from the spread of STDs. STD testing is offered at Purchase District Health centers. You can click here to contact your local health center today to schedule testing. You can be tested for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Herpes, Syphilis, and HIV at any of our health centers.

There are ways to protect you against infection. Not having sex or only having sex with one uninfected partner who is only having sex with you are the best way to protect yourself from STD infection. If you have sex, protect yourself by using a latex condom with a water-based lubricant EVERY TIME you have vaginal, anal, or oral sex. If you are allergic to latex use a polyurethane condom. Your local health center provides free condoms. It’s important to talk to your partner about past sex partners and don’t have sex with someone who you believe may have an STD.
